Awful ribs, extremely over cooked and hard covered in a sauce. Don’t waste your money!!! My partner says worst ribs he has ever eaten. Don’t bother with the reconstituted chicken burger either! It’s like rubber!
Very friendly and welcoming staff, the food here is extremely affordable through the low prices and generous portions with high quality, and every time I’ve been the food always tastes delicious! Best fish and chips by far and definitely recommend for all.
The best Fish & Chip Bar in Brentwood, the fish is so fresh & also the chips. I know we are all struggling to make ends meet but if you are able to order fish & chips do not think twice this fish & chip bar is the best in town !
This place used to be bombing . But like besides this place has always been known for worst chips. Now me and my dad are ill
Nightmare I ordered a simple regular cod n large cod n 1 sausage no batter. They gave me a savaloy , and forgot the salt n vinegar ... Will be sticking with the fish house I think.
The best veggie burger I have ever eaten from a fish and chip shop! Chips are amazing too. Super happy with my order, they even went the extra mile as to grill us some burger buns because the normal buns we ordered were sold out :)
Awful place, do not waste your time or your money ordering from here!!
I ordered from here and waited over 2 hours for my food - when I eventually got it I found 3 hairs in my food which totally put me off so I didn’t even want to eat it anymore! I phoned to inform them of the hairs and to say the staff are rude is an understatement, I have never been spoken to so awfully before.
I know I will never be returning after this awful experience and would recommend everyone stay clear of this chip shop!!
Not the greatest chips if I'm being honest. Only use here for convenience.
Food often tastes over cooked or warmed up. Oil used gives a 'taste' to the food and it's quite clear from the quality the ingredients that they use the cheapest stuff available.
My recommendation - avoid. There are 2 other chip shops within a 5 min walk

Quick Facts About Ongar Road Fish Bar

Ongar Road Fish Bar has received a mix of positive and negative comments, which provide insight into its strengths and weaknesses. In this analysis, we will delve into these comments, highlighting the key aspects that contribute to the overall customer experience.
Starting with the strengths, one recurring theme in the comments is the friendly and welcoming staff. Customers appreciate the positive customer service experience they receive at Ongar Road Fish Bar. This can greatly impact a customer's perception of a business and create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
Another strength mentioned by customers is the affordability of the food. The low prices and generous portions offered by Ongar Road Fish Bar are highly praised, making it an attractive option for those on a budget. Customers appreciate the high quality of the food despite its affordability, and some even claim it is the best fish and chips in town.
Furthermore, customers consistently mention the delicious taste of the food at Ongar Road Fish Bar. The positive feedback suggests that the flavors of the dishes are well-executed and satisfying. This is a crucial factor for any restaurant, as the quality of the food is the primary reason customers choose to dine there.
On the other hand, there are several weaknesses mentioned by customers that Ongar Road Fish Bar should address to improve its overall performance. One common complaint is the poor quality of certain dishes, particularly the ribs and the reconstituted chicken burger. Customers describe the ribs as awful, overcooked, and hard, covered in an unappetizing sauce. The negative experiences with these dishes indicate a potential inconsistency in food quality and the need for improvement in these specific menu items.
Another weakness highlighted is the poor quality of the chips. Multiple comments mention that the chips are not up to standard, often overcooked or warmed up, and lacking in taste. This is a significant weakness for a fish and chip shop, as the quality of the chips is fundamental to the overall experience.
Additionally, customers comment on the overall taste of the food being affected by the oil used. Some perceive a distinct taste that suggests the use of cheap ingredients. This can impact the overall enjoyment of the food and reflects the importance of using quality ingredients to provide a satisfactory dining experience.
Another weakness mentioned is the long wait times for food delivery. One customer reports waiting over 2 hours for their order, which is unacceptably long. Delays in service can frustrate customers and lead to a negative perception of the establishment. This may indicate a need for improvement in managing orders efficiently and reducing wait times.
Lastly, there is a complaint about the lack of attention to detail in fulfilling orders. One customer received the wrong items and the requested salt and vinegar were not included. These errors can be frustrating, especially if they consistently occur, and can significantly impact the customer experience and overall satisfaction.
In conclusion, Ongar Road Fish Bar has several strengths, including friendly staff, affordable prices, and delicious food. However, there are several weaknesses that should be addressed, such as the poor quality of certain dishes, inconsistent chip quality, taste affected by cheap ingredients, long wait times, and errors in order fulfillment. By addressing these weaknesses and building upon its strengths, Ongar Road Fish Bar can strive to provide a better overall experience for its customers.
